How to manage your energy 👇🏽 Being neurodiv How to manage your energy 👇🏽

Being neurodivergent and having a long history of migraines I’ve had to really focus a lot of my attention on managing my energy to stay mentally well. The things in the video all energise me and I have to factor them in regularly.

Here are 5 tips to help you manage your energy:

1️⃣If you know your energy levels fluctuate with your menstrual cycle, plan around that. This is called #cyclesyncing and I’ll be sharing more on that soon!

2️⃣If you are already feeling low in energy look to the week ahead and cancel non essential stuff and try and factor in at least one of your energising activities or rituals instead.

3️⃣ Avoid people that drain your energy. You are in charge of your own time, spend it wisely.

4️⃣Let go of people’s expectations and learn to honour your body and what it’s telling you. Energy levels are only part of the bigger picture.

5️⃣Identify what the physical signs are in your body that you are feeling drained or depleted. What are the clues your body is giving you? Headaches? Back ache? Sleeping problems?

And remember if you have persistently low energy levels despite addressing lifestyle factors and workload, you may have an underlying health problem so please make sure you speak to your GP. I’ll do another post soon on medical causes of low energy and what to do about it.

When you do the work on yourself it helps you to really understand what you actually need. Then you no longer feel that fear of missing out if you’re not out there keeping busy “doing stuff”.

3 things I use to prioritise over my health 👇🏽Until I received 2 pretty life-perspective changing diagnoses in the same 48 hours…

1️⃣MY JOB AS A DOCTOR

I know that might sound strange but I use to put making other people healthy above keeping myself healthy. I was just so use to overworking and feeling stressed and unwell as a norm. Things have drastically changed since then. Now everything I do is centred around keeping well ❤️

2️⃣PEOPLE PLEASING

Trying to please others all the time is actually really hard work. It is emotionally and mentally draining. People will either like you or they won’t no matter what you do. So, you may as well be yourself then they at least if they do like you they will like you for who you really are, rather than who you think they want you to be #gamechanger

3️⃣SAYING YES TO EVERYTHING

I mean saying yes to opportunities, seeing friends/ family, work, anything and everything. Saying yes to things when my heart was screaming NO! I’m talking about when you have nothing left in the tank and yet you still think you should give more otherwise you’ll be letting people down. We get so use to putting others first and pushing ourselves to the absolute limit. But at what cost? What use are we to others if we have nothing left to give?

P.s. These are just some of the things I help my clients with on my coaching programme - Happy Not Hungry: The 90 Day Mind & Body Reset. (Link in bio for more info 👆🏽).
