I'm a Doctor, TV Presenter, Health Coach and a Mum.
I have carved out a fulfilling career that enables me to have time to be healthy whilst still having time for family and the things I love that make me happy. But this has not always been the case. I faced burnout, depression and physical health problems as a result of stress. At my lowest point I was having 15 migraines a month and none of the medications seemed to help; I was offered spinal surgery for my back pain. I was eating a diet high in processed foods and sugar. I gained weight and felt lethargic, unfit and unmotivated. I was oversleeping and had no sleep routine. My life was chaotic and I couldn’t seem to organise myself to eat healthily. It felt like the more "success" I had in my career the worse my health got... I knew medicine and surgery weren't the answer. I considered walking away from my career in medicine. My health and career were at breaking point- something had to change.
I found a life coach and began studying to become a health coach- it was through studying health coaching that I begin to realise the importance of prioritising my health, especially eating habits. Investing in a coach in my own life has enabled me to let go of the things that were making me unhappy and create a life that makes me happy and fulfilled. Without the non- judgmental support of my coach and the accountability of having regular sessions for several months there is no doubt, I wouldn't be where I am today. Healthier and happier.
Looking back, it wasn’t that the more success I had the worse I felt, it was the more I worked and the less I did the things that made me happy, the worse I felt.
Sometimes we need someone else to hold the mirror up before we can begin to step away and rethink our work-life balance.
It’s easy to become a workaholic and neglect everything else including family, friends and our health. Healthy eating tends to be the easiest to neglect and the most difficult to maintain.
As a coach now myself, I support women who are ready to eat healthier, lose weight and transform their lifestyle to create space for the things that keep them healthy and make them happy. I work with busy women and female entrepreneurs to help them shift to a healthier way of living whilst acknowledging the challenges of juggling the competing demands of a hectic life.
